Dismissing Jesus

Do we see them?  Do we hear the protests of the broken and marginalized?  Or do we dismiss their pain?

Oh, Christians.  Do we see them?  Do we hear the protests of the broken and marginalized?  Or do we dismiss their pain?

Oh, do we see Him?  Do we see His brokenness and marginalization?  Or do we dismiss His pain?

We must recognize the texture of His pain. When we feed them, we feed Him.  When we give drink to them, we give drink to Him.  When we invite them, we invite Him.  When we clothe them, we clothe Him.  When we look after them, we look after Him.  When we visit the imprisoned, we visit Him.

Let us see His hunger in their longings, His thirst in their hopes and dreams. Let us see His homelessness in their destitution, His nakedness in their humiliation. Let us see His frailty in their limitations, His sufferings in their wounds.

For when we dismiss them, we are dismissed.

42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’

  1. Amen! I’m wanting to go through the whole Bible and make note of ALL the verses that talk about the foreigner, orphan, widow, poor, and oppressed. I want my heart to be aligned to God’s heart.
